When @lillypulitzer decided that they wanted to make leggings, I swear that the thought of "hey, maybe Brynn Howard will buy these" ran through their heads. Hahaha JK, but anyways, they are LIFE. Dress them up (kinda) with a cute top and sandals, or put dry shampoo in your hair for the fifth time this week and throw on a clean-ish shirt and out the door you go!
I am not one who usually would spend a fortune on just one piece of clothing, I try to justify to myself (aka Dad) that I can get more than a few wears and style something more than one way before I buy it. With dresses, it's much easier. Switch the shoes, throw on a sweater, or grab some earrings. With leggings, you can really only change your top or shoes.
After I bought one pair, I immediately was addicted. I now own way too many pairs then I care to admit and have no plans to stop buying the new prints! After Lilly initially made leggings and realized all women LOVE them, they then decided they were going to make other Luxletic items, including: swim rash guards, skirts and even luxletic popovers.
The leggings are P-E-R-F-E-C-T in every way. From not piling, holding up wash after wash, and lets be honest, the prints are to die for. The only bad thing I have to say is, I constantly have to pull them up ALL DAY LONG. I thought that maybe it was just me, but I asked a few of my Lilly friends and they all said the same thing.
Lilly VS. Lululemon: I love BOTH Lilly and lululemon, but I think the quality of Lilly is definitely better. Lulu leggings are easier to wear since they are solid vs bright and printed, and I do think they are more comfortable, since the fabric is much lighter and makes it feel like you're not wearing pants, but the quality of lulu doesn't compare to the quality of Lilly.
I absolutely love the rash guards. Being a red head with extremely fair skin, I burn so easily with any exposure to sun. I have tried and do love L.L. Bean and Eddie Bauer's rash guards as well, but in all honestly I think that the Lilly ones may be more protective, and plus they are SO CUTE!!! I don't wear any sunscreen at all where I know for one hundred percent that my skin is covered, like my arms, but around my neck and where the top doesn't cover, I make sure to use sunscreen! The other thing that is nice about them is that they dry really quick, the colors won't run when it's wet, and it doesn't make you hot at all when you wear it!
The skirts and popover are also a must have! Even though I don't play tennis, I obviously had to have one of the skirts! It has built in shorts too, similar to Nike shorts. So comfy and the same material as the leggings! The popover is also the same material. Very light, but also easy to layer with a vest or long sleeve if it's cold. This La Playa one (below), was a sample, but I hope to see them release it this fall/ winter in other prints!
