OMG!!!!!! Y'all.... This sale was AMAZING!!!!! As an avid (some may call compulsive) lover of all things Lilly Pulitzer, this was something I was NOT going to miss!!! I left my house at around 9:30 P.M. at arrived in Philadelphia at around 3:00 A.M.
I got there at just the right time!!! Only a few ladies set up their chairs before me (about 20) and most of them actually set up the morning before, so I was thrilled that I was so far up in line. Only around two-hundred Lilly lovers actually came to the sale, I would say around five-hundred were invited.
The sale started at 8:00 A.M. and at 7:30 A.M., they let us inside to a holding area, which really was where the sale was, but they had black curtains to square in the actual sale area. Right at 8:00 they opened one curtain and allowed us to all enter.
I walked in and instantly was overwhelmed. To the very far right of the building were racks of samples and just random dresses. The rest of the building was just tables with boxes full of Lilly. Some tables were "sorted" (if you'd even call it that) by printed cotton dresses, some boxes were by sizes, others were by the type of dress and you had to dig to find which size you wanted. Another table was all accessories, or in this case, the lack of accessories. There really was only two types of tote bags, lots of trays, and random wallets. I was disappointed to say the least. There were more tables of pants, shoes, baby Lilly (oops I may have bought some, don't ask why LOL), dresses, dresses, and, more dresses, Elsa Tops (which were $28. YES, TWENTY-EIGHT DOLLARS), some popovers, and a random table of all white Lilly.
I literally ran around and just tossed everything I liked into the huge bags that Lilly provided and walked around over and over again to make sure I didn't miss anything. The amazing ladies who work at Lilly corporate were working the sale and most of them were so extremely helpful. They were digging through piles to help find things that anyone was wanting and they were going through and trying to hang things up to make it easier to see everything that was there.
Once I had like 4 bags full of stuff (OOPS), I made my way to the "fitting room". It was just another large, sectioned off room surrounded by black curtains and numbered chairs with a mirror. Ladies were walking around in their bra and panties trying on everything like they were in their bedrooms at home, and searching through other ladies discard piles to make sure they didn't miss out on anything.
This in my opinion, that was my favorite part. It was almost a mini fashion show, once you had a garment on, everyone would walk around and get the opinions from other ladies around them. It was such a genuine, fun, and exciting moment. Also, seeing so many ladies that are so incredibly passionate about Lilly was also incredible.
Once I went through my pile and discarded the things I didn't want, I went back out to the sale room and walked around one more time and then headed for the checkout. I was exhausted from 1. not getting any sleep, and 2. trying on clothes is hard work LOL! After talking to the employees for a half hour that checked me out, it was time to find a starbucks and make the SIX HOUR drive home. UGH I WAS SO TIRED!!!!!!
Overall, it was an amazing experience! I am SO GLAD that I went. I met some AMAZING Lilly Lovers, purchased some gorgeous samples and the prices were to die for! I hope to see more in the future. One regret is not taking ANY PICTURES... LIKE WHAT WAS I THINKING?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Well, I took one selfie, I will share below. But oh well, I have memories that will last for a lifetime, it was kinda nice for a change to just live in the moment.
To clarify what samples are in the Lilly world, they are things that have not been mass produced. In other words, they were made, but not in a large enough quality to sell to the world of Lilly girls. Some of the pieces that I purchased were mass produced, but I now have the original sample, the one where they either had the mock up made first, or the first run of the product instead of the final run.
hoped y'all loved this post! haul post coming tomorrow!!!
