There is something so special and unique about New York City. Imagine living in such a diverse and beautiful city, you can be whoever you want to be and it is totally acceptable. I am so thankful for the two weeks that I spend studying at Pace University in NYC. I met the most incredible people and learned SO much!!
My momma and I drove down on a Friday so that we could spend a few days together before she dropped me off. We had a blast together! From getting blow outs, to shopping at the Lilly store, to spending the day at the Plaza Hotel, it was definitely a weekend to remember!
The two weeks at Pace seemed to fly by. Although I was incredibly homesick, I still made the best of it! I had class everyday from 9-5 with some breaks in between. Once class was over, we had a nightly event planned! My favorite was walking the Brooklyn Bridge and getting ice cream at the harbor. I love to be on or near the water.
On the weekend between classes we had a Saturday full of plans. We spent the morning at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and it was incredible. I have wanted to go ever since I was little (especially after I watched Gossip Girl) and never had the opportunity. The art was spectacular and I had the most amazing time adventuring around. I cannot wait to go back. After spending probably an hour in the gift shop reading books, it was time to check out and move on to our next event.
Next my group went to Central Park. It was everything I have ever dreamed of and SO MUCH MORE!!! Living where I do in PA, it is all forest and nature and I love it. So, having both nature and the busy life of New York, it is the best of both worlds. Walking around, finding a castle, and sailing the boats made for the best experience possible in Central Park.
On Sunday, we went to Governors Island and that was such a fun day!!!! Biking, soaking up some sun, and it was also National Ice Cream day, so we celebrated accordingly. It was a nice day to just relax after a busy week and weekend and it was the perfect place to do so.
The next week flew by, and before I knew it my mom, sister and step-dad were already there to get me! We spent the next weekend in the city as well. With my family we went to ground zero, the 911 Museum and just explored the rest of the city.
Those were just a few highlights from the trip, I know for certainty that I do not want to go to college in NYC, so overall the goal of the trip was achieved. Plus I had an amazing time!!!
