Early Thanksgiving morning, when the rest of America was prepping their turkeys and watching the Macy's Day Parade, which we were lucky enough to watch on the plane (shoutout to Southwest for being the best airline EVER!!!), my family and I headed off to the Golden Coast! We started the trip with a small rough patch, Meals got car sick and I forgot the Disneyland tickets (how is this even possible I'm sure you're wondering?!?!), but nevertheless we made it to California! We were exhausted and ready for some turkey!!! The first few days of our West Coast trip were spent in Bakersfield. My dad was loving the different industries that are in California, especially Oil. We headed to the Sequoia National Park where the largest tree is located. It was so much fun hiking, if you can consider it that, (my family doesn't hike) and spending time with my family outdoors without cellphones (mostly because there wasn't any cell phone service!)
Getting to see the trees and the natural beauty of California was such a cool contrast to what we saw when we headed back to LA! Definitely one of the highlights of the trip was riding in a bright yellow Ferrari limo to the Hollywood sign. When we were walking along Hollywood Blvd (looking for Trump's star) we ran into the limo and my dad knew he HAD to ride in it!
Once our adventures downtown were finished, we went back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. We went to a steakhouse, and OMG, it was AMAZING. I wore the new "Little Black Lilly dress" with the embroidered sides, and beaded neckline, and absolutely loved it. Such a fun dress to wear, and it's so adorable!!
The next day we went to the Ronald Reagan museum. We are all huge republicans, and he was a favorite president of my dad. The museum was beautiful. His airplane, "Air Force One" was on display, and it was so incredible to get to actually stand inside of it. My momma, who is a pilot, would have LOVED it! Just getting to walk through the museum and getting to learn more about what happened during that time was so amazing. My dad and sister loved it sooo much.
After that we headed off to Disneyland to get checked into our hotel room and get cleaned up for dinner. We headed to Downtown Disney for dinner and to find some darn Rose Gold Ears. The mission for dinner was complete, not so much the ears :(((((( Bummer!!! (don't worry, you KNOW I ordered them on eBay for our next trip)
The next morning we headed off to the parks. I cannot express it enough, I fell in love with Disneyland. We have been to Disney World in FL SO. MANY. TIMES., and Disneyland was something completely new to our family. There are many differences between Disneyland and Disney World. I feel that Disneyland and California Adventure are more for the older generation vs. Disney World, in specific, Magic Kingdom is for the younger generation. Don't get me wrong, Magic Kingdom will ALWAYS be my favorite. (I'll do an entire post just for the differences between World and Land)
Since we had early magic hours, I got my butt out of bed in the morning to get around to head to the parks before everyone else can get in, perks for staying right at the parks. When we're in FL, we always just stay at the house. The rest of the crew was tired, so dad and I said heck with them and went to the parks! The first day we went to California Adventure, and it was sooooo awesome!!! We rode Screamin' first, which was super smart since the line is SO long they say. I rode it a few times in a row, such a fun ride, and it's not like anything at the Disney World Parks. Next we went to the Guardian's of the Galaxy ride, which is like the tower of Terror, which is my absolute favorite ride. The rest of the day went by so quickly. Ugh how I wished we had more time.
The next morning we went to Disneyland. AHHHH! Such a fun park. The rides were so so so fun. I love the teacups, and they are so gorgeous. They are open, unlike at MK, so the lighting is WAY better, aka the perfect place for pictures. Alice is on the ride as well and she was so funny. I may have followed her around to talk to her (okay, yes I did), and she said she LOVED my ears. I just had the best day. Walked around and explored, took SOOOOO many pictures, and tried to make the most of a short trip.
My dad, and everyone else left in the afternoon to go and see some off shore rigs in the Pacific Ocean (for those of you who don't know, my dad owns an oil and gas business), and I stayed back to have some more time at Disneyland. I had way more fun by myself then most people would. I got to do everything I wanted and it took me half the time to do it which was awesome. On my way out I bought a beloved Disney ballon. It ended fatal the next day. DARN BOYS! hahaha definitely had a good laugh though!
Well, just like that, the trip was OVER. BOO. We had a blast. Saw so many different things, made so many memories, and just enjoyed being with one another. This time of the year is beyond crazy for us, so it was nice to get away and enjoy ourselves.
hope y'all love the pictures and sorry for such a long post. I can be a bit sentimental at times. Who am I kidding, it is most of the time. LOL!
