Pretending To Be a Southern Belle
Y'all....... Oh my goodness. I can't even express to you how unbelievably amazing Savannah was. I had a fabulous time and I may have shed a tear or two when it was time to leave my dorm room at Savannah College of Art and Design or SCAD.
My momma flew to Savannah with me to get me all set up at SCAD and to get me familiar to the area. I have no sense of direction, so that took a little longer than expected. We had the best time together. We always do, but this trip was so special to me.
Thursday morning at 2:30, my momma got a call from American Airlines saying that our flight was cancelled and would NOT be rebooked, so needless to say, we freaked out. Thankfully, it was just the two of us, which would be easier to get on a flight then if it was my entire family. Luckily, we could relocate to another airport and fly out that same morning.
Once we got to Savannah, we checked into our hotel and then it was time to explore!!!! We walked all over the city and BAM what did we run into, THE LILLY STORE!!!! For a girl who barely can find the grocery store back home, I didn't have any problems finding Palm Avenue. My dad says that I can "smell when there is a Lilly store close" hahaha God love him. Anyway, the ladies at this store are AMAZING!!!! I have never shopped in store obviously, but have ordered over the phone a few times, so it is always nice to put a face to a name.
After some shopping, we went and got the most amazing pizza ever (ughhh crying I miss the pizza and Savanah SO MUCH) and then it was time to call it a day and go back to the hotel and get some rest, boy were we tired!
Saturday morning we slept in and then went to brunch! After brunch, we did some more shopping and preorders at the Palm Ave for the following weeks gift with purchases. So fun!!! After that, we walked around some more and went to see Forsyth Park and even got to participate in a Bachelor (don't ask what my mom and I had to do HAHAHA) scavenger hunt.
After walking around and exploring all day, it was time for dinner! We decided we wanted to get an early dinner and then get ice cream at Leapold's Ice Cream. The 45 minute wait for ice cream seemed a little ridiculous at the time, but I am SO glad that we waited. It was AMAZING!!!! After the most delicious ice cream and another day in the Georgia heat, I was ready for bed.
The next morning it was time to check into SCAD. My momma got me all set up and I met my roommate, who is the sweetest gal ever. Unfortunately, my momma then had to leave. *sad face*
The week at SCAD flew by. I can't turn the love that I had for SCAD into words. From the people to the environment, every aspect was perfect. I had a busy week full of lots of work and a ton of fun. From movie night, to a night at the beach, and silent disco, the week was absolutely perfect.
Friday came along so quickly and it was already time to say goodbye to my dream school/ future home and all of the sweet friends that I made. My dad flew in for the weekend to sign me out and for the two of us to spend some time together.
After showing my dad all around the school and convincing him that SCAD was the best school for me, he helped me pack my things and off we went to our hotel. We hung out for a while and then off to dinner. I took him to the same pizza place that I went with my mom since we all love pizza and it was just that good! It was already late, so off to the hotel we went. I got lost on the way back (shocker!)
Saturday was a typical Saturday for us, except we were in GA and not PA. Shopping, dad taking a nap while I annoy him, and dinner and a movie. I made a deal with him that if he took me to Palm Ave, shhhhhhh don't tell him I was already there, that he could pick the movie. We went to Ruth Chris steakhouse for dinner, and let me tell you, it was delicious!!!! I don't remember what movie we saw, it wasn't good at all. The seats were comfortable though! We then went back to the hotel and went to bed as we had an early flight the next morning! What an awesome trip!
