Y'all know how much I loooooove to travel and it has been my life-long dream to go to Paris. After begging my dad for literally eighteen years, he said for my graduation gift, he would take me. Such a fitting time to go, right before I head off to fashion school.
Sooooo I obviously couldn't go to Europe without my bestie, so Meals came along too. My sister just graduated from the catholic University of America, In Washington, DC, so it doubled as her grad gift too.
I searched for basically forever to find reasonable airplane tickets. I got an email from aircanda for non-stop, roundtrip tickets to Paris for $500 so it was basically a #NoBrainer! We were BOOKED!!!! EEEEEEKKKK!!
I counted down every day and then the day finally came! We packed our (many) bags, and headed off to Toronto.
We got to the airport with plenty of time to spare, usually not a Howard way of doing things, but my bag was over-weight (shocker) so good thing that we did. We loaded up on gummy bears, gold fish, and Starbucks (a double shot of espresso was probably not the best idea) and boarded our 7-hour flight to Paris.
The flight seemed super short, we slept most of the way and "woke up in Paris". Once we got there, we got our luggage and made our way to the hotel. We stayed in a more residential area, about a ten-minute uber ride to the Eiffel tower- Hotel Aida Opera. The hotel, especially the lobby, was under extensive renovations, but the rooms were brand new. it was kind of sketchy to get to the room, but it was really modern inside! and the lighting was perfect for allll the insta-stories #Victory!
we had jet jag suuuuuuper bad and it was also raining and cold, so we went shopping! so. dang. fun. I definitely have the best dad ever!! We spent hours in Louis Vuitton trying to find my neverfull. We went to four different LV stores (which was super cool) there are six across the entire city. we had the best experience. We also shopped at the Galeries Lafayette. You can see the entire city from the seventh floor. If you go to Paris, you must go here!!!! the "mall" is separated by different high-end stores, and each level sells different items. I went right to the bottom level (shoes) and bought my blush pink valentino flats. After shopping, we went back and got some much needed rest and went out for a super late (and delicious) dinner.
We woke up much later than expected, but we still made it to the most magical place in France, Disneyland!
The grounds at DLP are BEAUTIFUL!!!!! I was shocked how big the castle was, and I loved the fastpass system (it was how the old one was at WDW). I am SO glad we took the time to go and we truly had the best time. If you are a Disney fanatic and happen to find yourself in France, you have to go!
The morning sure came quickly and before we knew it we were on a bus to the beaches of Normandy.
The company that we did our tour with took us to all of the bunkers from world war II and then to the beaches, look-out points, and the museums. It was very eye-opening, especially to see the conditions that the men lived in. Typically this isn't my kind of thing, but my dad loved it and I learned a ton. I should also note that it was a four hour drive each way, we slept both ways and it was MUCH NEEDED.
Day four: I think this was my favorite day. Exploring the city and getting to see its beauty and history was incredible. We woke up and went right to brunch next to the Notre- Dame Cathedrale and the food was soooooo good! After brunch, we walked around the church and then bought tickets for the bus tour. I cannot reccomend the bus tours enough. Yes, they are very "touristy", but I think it is the best way to see the city! We spent the majority of the day on the hop on/ off bus, shoppin , finding th love lock bridge, and eating one too many crepes.
We didn't end up finding the love bridge until the boat tour, but meals and I found a cute bridge with some locks and attached ours!
That night I wore the most beautiful Lilly dress EVER! We also ate dinner right next to the Eiffel tower and it was the most amazing food ever!
We sat for hours (waiting to see the tower twinkle) talking, laughing, and sipping on cosmos. It was a dream come true and I *might* have teared up when the tower twinkled for the first time.
I really wanted to ride a train, and my sister wanted to go to Belgium (my pick was London, but we're thinking spring break). Riding on a high-speed train is so cool and such an awesome experience. We got to Brussels in little over an hour and boy was it a beautiful city! We ate an incredible meal and explored all around, we saw the Royal Palace, which was beyond gorgeous, and ate one too many waffles. I don't think I would go to Brussels for an extended trip, but the time we did spend was super fun! after we went to practically every chocolate shop in the city, we headed back on the train to Paris!
That night we went for a boat tour on the Sienne river and got to see the tower sparkle and twinkle again, which was pretty magical.
Day six: our last day. HOW?!?!
We woke up and wanted breakfast food soooooo badly. We ate the best dang breakfast of our life and then decided we wanted to ride the bus again. We finished the tour, explored some more near the tower, did some more shopping, and headed back to get ready for dinner.
We ate at the cutest cafe near the Arc De Trimphe and then took our dad to a cabaret show for Father’s Day. HAHAHA!!
Sad it was time to leave, but I was exhausted and ready to see my pups! I ordered us a car the day before to drive us back to the airport and was sure to let the person know that we had 6 suitcases and that we would need a van. Well the smallest car ever picked us up and I laughed so dang hard I am surprised I didn't pee my pants! They pushed and shoved to try and get the bags to fit. Finally, they did and we all got into the Prius and the driver barely could see out the passenger side window. (my sister held a bag on her lap too) it clearly wasn't safe, so we ended up having to call an uber xl anyways, buy boy did we get a good laugh!!!!
The flight took forever (due to complications on the runway) and we were all annoyed, but we made it home safely so that's all that matters. seriously best. trip. ever. so, so thankful for the best dad in the world. he does so much for our family!
Until next time Paris,
